MEETING CHIEF UNDERGRADUATE ADVISORS

While exploring majors, visiting the Chief Undergraduate Advisors in the departments you’re interested in can be a really useful tool. These advisors are often faculty and are heavily involved in their departments. For example, Jess is a Psychology major and her Chief Undergraduate Advisor offers internship workshops, assembles groups of students, and knows about all the available opportunities in the department such as Research Assistantships, Teaching Assistantships, student organizations, and other academic opportunities like the Developmental Disabilities and Human Services specialization. They can also tell you about post-graduation opportunities, summer job or internship opportunities…they know it all, that’s why they’re THE CHIEF!
Again, the hardest part is convincing yo’self to go. To make the most out of your visit, prepare some questions beforehand about what will help you decide if this is a good fit for you.
