Tip of the Week with Jess and Matt #1

And we're backkkk! Jess and Matt here, and we're back in action. It's our last semester here....one tear.....but that doesn't mean we can't give ya'll the happening and hip news of the University. Well, I make it hip, and Jess makes sure I don't go crazy. So undergrads and transfer students, get ready for another semester of tips brought you peer advisor style. For this week, think about...

GETTING INVOLVED WITH FACULTY

The rumors are true, office hours are posted on your syllabi! This is a great way to take advantage of your time here at the University and will also give your professor a chance to match your name with a face. During your professor's office hours you can talk about class lectures, future tests and quizzes, and possibly meet some of the TA's (they have office hours too!) You can discuss with professors what their interests are, how they chose their career path, and if there are any opportunities for becoming a TA, Research Assistant, Peer Advisor/Mentor, or even have a reference for when career-searching or grad application time begins! Remember that these office hours are created for YOU! The hardest part is getting yourself to go. Don't be intimidated and be proactive; you'll feel much better about yourself and your academic endeavors.

So that's that. You heard it first from us. Two cool seniors. Enough said. Go out there and start networking!
