Weekly Preview: February 4 through 11

It's a good week to look ahead to possible employment and a career . . . whether you're about to graduate or thinking about an internship or summer job.  Check it out!

Monday, February 7, 4:45 pm – 6:00 pm. Career Fair Prep. Learn about how to put your best foot forward at the Career Fairs happening this week. Campus Center, 168C.

Tuesday, February 8, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm. Stockbridge School Career Fair. Stockbridge and CNS students are invited to speak with employers (many of whom are Stockbridge and UMass alumni) offering full-time, part-time, summer and internship opportunities related to the green industries. Campus Center Auditorium.

Tuesday, February 8, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. ALANA Career Fair. Meet employers looking for ALANA students of all majors for full-time, co-op and/or Internship opportunities. Log in to eRecruiting here to see a list of employers who will be in attendance; after logging in, click on career fairs and then upcoming career fairs. Student Union Ballroom.

Tuesday, February 8, 6:15 pm – 8:00 pm. Recruiter Meet and Greet. Meet recruiters in a variety of organizations in an informational setting. Please dress professionally and arrive promptly at 6:15pm. Wednesday, February 9, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. 2011 Career Blast Job Fair. Come dressed for success with your resumes in hand to network with employers seeking students for full-time employment, internships, co-ops, and summer jobs. Thursday, February 10th, 5:30pm. Love, Money, and Work: Social Entrepreneurship as a Career. Jessica Jackely (Co-founder of Kiva.org and Founder/CEO of ProFounder) majored in philosophy and art at UMass Amherst . . . and now she’s one of the world's leading female entrepreneurs. Jackely launched KIVA, a non-profit with a mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva has created a global community of people connected through lending; hundreds of millions of dollars have been loaned through partnerships around the world. Student Union Ballroom.

Friday, February 11, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm. RefWorks Workshop. Learn how to use RefWorks, Write-N-Cite and RefShare to streamline your research and paper writing. Integrated Sciences Building, 3rd floor classroom.

(Ongoing) Through the end of final exams, every Wednesday through Friday at 2:30-3:30 and every Wednesday from 4:45-5:30. Domestic Exchange Information Sessions for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 Exchanges. Spend a semester or year at another college or university in the U.S., through the National Student Exchange (nse.org) or University of Massachusetts Exchange Schools. Students MUST attend an information session to apply (and will receive applications and all the information necessary to apply). The final deadline is March 1st for FALL 2011 AND/OR SPRING 2012. 604 Goodell.

(ongoing) BDIC (Bachelors Degree with Individual Concentration) Information Sessions for Spring 2011.  Learn about the most unique major on campus, and receive guidance on how you can design your own major. Information sessions will be held every Monday (3pm), Tuesday (1pm), Wednesday (10am), Thursday (11am), Friday (1pm) in 608 Goodell.
